VectorForce Version 4.0
Filed under: Ordinary Stuff on Monday, July 24th, 2006 by Benj Arriola | No CommentsI no longer have copies of the old site. First was wasl a standard news website type with a top bar, side bar and news section. That was way long ago. Maybe 1998 and it sucked. All HTML, static, hard to maintain. But that was also the time I did not have much web design and development clients yet, so the first site actually had a working directory with addresses and phone numbers when you login.
Version 2, tried to look better, and I still remember Raymond DesengaƱo reacting saying the first site looked better.
Version 3 is what is currently on vectorforce.org/oldsite/, I am still keeping it there if you wish to look for some old post. Although the site uses dynamic elements where the news was pulled from a MySQL database using PHP, the admin panel was never completed. I became busy that all free sites were hard to do.
I already got over the programmer’s pride thing. Sometimes you want to make things yourself from scratch just to say you made it. I was in-love with the code. Today it is a different story. I try to outsource as much as possible, to my trusted outsource people and I use whatever tools are available and I just use and modify. The more time I save, the more projects I can accept.
So Version 4 is using Wordpress, a real time saver for me on the web development part. Although there are many other CMS tools out there like PHPNuke, Postnuke, b2Evolution, Drupal, Joomla, Mambo, Geekslog, e107, pMachine, PHPWebsite and a lot more, I am a fan of Wordpress for blog/news type of websites.
Welcome to the new site and to all my batchmates that wish to be writers for the website, even for simple kamustahan posting, news about out batchmates, our ourselves, just register and I will verify your emails and give each verified users writer priveledges to be able to post whatever you want to talk about.
